Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, community-focused General Dentist to join our multidisciplinary health team. This is a unique, dynamic multi-site role where the selected candidate will support patient care across four of our prominent, high-volume dental locations: Crenshaw, Florence, Vermont, and South Gate. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, thrives in diverse community settings, and is motivated to collaborate with medical and behavioral health departments to deliver whole-person care.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties
Comprehensive Clinical Care: Perform general dentistry procedures, including clinical diagnostic exams, digital x-ray interpretation, treatment planning, preventative treatments, restorative fillings, simple and surgical extractions, basic endodontic procedures, and crowns/bridge evaluations.
Patient Education: Actively educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, post-operative care, and the direct link between oral health and overall systemic health.
Rotational Site Delivery: Rotate across designated YMS dental clinics (Crenshaw, Florence, Vermont, and South Gate) to ensure consistent dental care accessibility and address staffing needs.
Mobile Dental Unit Service: Deliver comprehensive and preventative dental treatments
on-board our specialized YMS dental mobile units, traveling to various community outreach
sites, schools, shelters, and local partners.
FQHC Standards Compliance: Deliver culturally competent care to underserved populations, ensuring strict compliance with HRSA, FQHC, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines.
Integrated Care Collaboration: Partner closely with primary care providers, pediatricians, and social workers to coordinate care for patients with co-occurring medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, prenatal care).
Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous, accurate, and timely digital health records using our Electronic Dental Record (EDR) platform in compliance with FQHC reporting standards.
Schedule & Flexibility Requirements
Standard Shift: Full-time, 8-hour daily shifts (typically Monday through Friday).
Saturday Commitments: Must be available to work a minimum of one (1) Saturday per month from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (Highly critical requirement).
Work-Life Balance: To accommodate weekend shifts, the dentist will receive a designated weekday off during the weeks a Saturday is worked, keeping hours to a standard full-time shift.
Travel: Must possess reliable transportation and be willing to commute to the specified Los Angeles and South Gate clinical locations as scheduled.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an ADA-accredited dental program (DDS preferred for higher starting tier salary).
Licensure: Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of California.
Certifications: Valid DEA registration certificate and current CPR/BLS certification are required.
Skills: Excellent clinical diagnostic and manual dexterity skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills to connect with patients of diverse backgrounds.
Language (Preferred): Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable to support our local patient demographic.
